Day 10 Sept 10. Concarneau

Wonderful town of CONCARNEAU. At. The port and fortified old town. Lunch at L’Amiral.

Parking meter nightmare. They have a parking system where you pay at this machine called a horror something. It is a horror. $35 fine if you don’t pay. I was ready to lay down and cry. Could not figure it out. D figured it out. Saving an embarrassing scene. Museum of commercial fishing. I was ready to pull out my fly rod and snag a couple of cods. Yes I brought a fly rod. Wha t a wonderful place.

Next the The little village of Nevez. Thatched roof cottages!

Then on to Pont Avon. The village of impressionist fame. Absolutely magical. The Avon river runs through it. Once home to many small mills but in houses and small workshops on the river. Center of cottage fabric making.

finally to Quimper for dinner . Bigger town with a river running down the middle. Great meal. Best sweetbreads I have ever had. D had sea bass.

  1. We are totally jealous!! Looks like you are both having a great time. Let me know how the fly fishing for cod goes. On this side of the pond, cod hang out in the deep sea, so the lure of choice is a lead jigger, but if anybody can coax one to a fly, it's Chuck.
