Day15 To Nantes

Breakfast in the Chateau And off to the Chateau La Groulais in Blaine. They were having a A flea market on the grounds of the castle!!! We couldn’t understand why there were so much traffic going into the castle when we got there. It was a big flea market, but the same old crap you see in our flea markets, mostly junk. The castle was impressive. even though most of it had disappeared over the centuries. Probably into the houses of the town of Blaine. The main Château or Ansay was still intact with one of the towers as were the one of the gate towers and joining rooms. It must’ve been a huge castle when it was at its height . Curiously, there is a really fabulous museum of printing in the building with early printing presses and apparatus. The castle had some bizarre art exhibits, not our taste….

we then hauled gas to Nantes (pronounced Nahnts) for our last night on the road. Our boutique hotel is well situated across from the fairy tale castle of the Dukes of Britany

.

We toured the museum inside and walked the castle walls/battlements. We then took a little tourist "train" all over Nantes. It was the best because we got to see all the most important sights in 45 min. And without wearing out my tired dogs.

We then did walk the streets past hundreds of neat tiny restaurants in the narrow cobblestone medieval streets.

We sat in front of the castle gate at a bistro and had wine. A little old lady was playing an accordion beautifully and singing horribly. It was so romantic and funny, and French, a perfect way to end our stay. We have video but I am having trouble getting it to work.  You can see the little old lady in the upper right with her accordion.

Then dinner in an excellent restaurant and back to the hotel and bed.  Tomorrow back to Paris and home.
